Chandigarh: State Bank of India has issued a warning to ATM card holders to avoid fraud. According to the bank, cases of ATM fraud have increased in the recent past. In order to combat ATM card planning, the bank reduced the cash withdrawal limit to Rs 20,000 per day. The Reserve Bank of India has recently implemented new rules under which all the ATM holders have been required to replace old magriff cards with new chip-based cards.
How does ATM planning work?
In fact, hackers make a device called a schemer named in the ATM machine card slot to do the execution of the scheme. With the help of this schemerman, all information is stolen from the card's magnetic stripe. In addition, hackers attach a camera to the ATM keypad. From this, they get all the information about the PIN of the ATM user. In addition, a thin film is taken on the keypad of ATM, from which keypad has fingerprints. With the help of all this information hackers create clones and manipulate the customer's account.
According to the bank's warning, the withdrawal of funds from ATMs can be avoided by taking into account certain things-
Whenever you go to ATM, keep in mind that where the camera is located. Do not withdraw money if the camera looks like a pad where the pad appears
Do not withdraw money if ATM card slot looks longer or looser than usual (where ATM card is applied).
Hide the keypad with your hand while taking money from ATM.
Do not discontinue the ATM receipt after withdrawing money.
If possible, after waiting for cash, wait until the cash withdrawal message is received on the phone.
If it seems that your ATM information is leaked, tell the bank immediately.
Let the bank know as soon as the card is lost
