Are we handwired to beleive in god
Some say we are born beleives but one out of every eight people in the world today is an atheist and that number is rising i mean look at eastet it started as a pegan party for the gddess of spring turnedbinto a celebration of an undeadbprophet and a large magical rabbit hides plastiv eggs filled with candy all over the yard right for the religiously inclined it may be tempting to beleive that these are the end times but are they really it would help we knew why human beleived in god in the first place one hypothesisis that duh god existsbtherefor we should beleive in him or her or orbit them but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidences and let's just say the scientist literatures supporting god's existance has not exactly passed peer review the evidence we do have points to the idea that our brain seem primed for religion over the milennic we 've evolved a numberbof mental quirks that makes it very easy for us to beleive for examplebback in the day humans were tastybsnack and if you heard a rusle in the bushes it was safer to assume it was caused by a lion with a purpose to eat you ratherbthen the wind which literally could "not indiscreet such a large number of think our mind advanced to accept that things that occur on the planet have a reason and if that intention is secretive maybe a concealed super"
natural agent is at work in this viewvwe evolved the ability to beleive in god in much the same way we evolved the ability to use language we are not born with it but we are bore with the ability to quickly learn it based on the particulars of the society in which we live small hunter -gathersocieties have gods that make lightning and forest fire but don't really care about who has sec with whom while large sedentry civilization have gods that watch over human affairs and slight people that don't play by the rule the idea is that as a society is larger the harder it is for everyone to know which makes it easierbfor people to steal cheat and gernerally be jerks to one anothers but if everyone believes in an all-seeing god their society tend to be more stable and prosperous what's weired is that nowdays the most stable and secure societies in the world have the lowest rule of religious beleif one possible reason is that once people fell safe they put god out of a jobbut then again maybe it's more like a vocation today we face existential threats more secary then anything in human history in our innate desire to beleive in a higher purpose might just kick back in so while we may not need god to have a stable society odds are we are still gonna beleive in something
