What's inside the quantum box?

Let's say you live in the quantum world and you ask your buddy to get you a mystery meal from the new burger joint around the block when he gets back you won't be able to say for sure what's inside the box until you open it the best you can do is to consider the probabilites to do that physicists use what's called a wave function but the wave function itself is it actually a set of probabilites infact no one knows for sure what a wave function really is just that it works is itjust a bit ofmath or is itanactual thing like the magnetic field invisible but very real those in the math camp say that the wave function is just a way to predict what will happen if you run an experiment a bunch of time so if your buddy brought you a hundred mystery meals 40 of them would be burger 30 of them hot dogs and 30 would be tacos each individual meal contents is actually fixed it's just that you don't know what the fine folks at quantum burger happened to put in the box that day but those who think that the wave function is real would say the box actually contains some kind of unholy taco dog burger thing by looking in the box your measurement forcesit to settle  into a single delicious lunch item in this view the wave function is actually baked right into the mystery meal itself somehow controlling what you'll have for lunch untill now the debate has been completely philosophical  the math is the same either way but a group of physicists now think there may be a way to tell the difference they 've shown that if the wave function is purely mathematical and it could lead to predictions that don't match up with what normal quantum thoery says no one has verified this with an experiment yet but if the wave function turns out to be real we might have to take some strange notions seriouly like the many worlds idea which says that each time you open that nystery meal all three out comes actually happen it's just that you only get to see one of them because the other happen tp different use in different universe but similarly strange things have turned out to be true the magneticfield quantum tunneling teleportation all of these things were hard to bekeive until experiments show they were real so if the taco doh burger turns out to be an actual thing it might seem crazy but at least we'll have taken the mystery
