We've come a long way in treating hiv 21 million people arround the world now recieve antiretroviral therapies that can reduce the amount of virus in the body to almost zero and campared to early hiv treatments today's medicins are safer and more effective and more convient helping people live longer healtheir lives but there is still much work to be donebwith 2 million now infection each year additional prevention option are needed reserches also continually strive to look for future break through to improve the life time treatment and care for diverse population living hiv arround the world but thr ultimate goal is to find a cure hiv is difficult to eliminate because it can hide silently in long lived immune system cells if a patient stops their hiv treatment the virus will re-emerge from these reserviors and start to multiply current reserch is investigation how we could help to kich hiv out of its silent state exposing the cells that harbor hiv to thr body's immune system or to therpies designed to kill infected cells these type of strategies would work in conjunction with conventional anti retrovirals to reduce the amount of virus in the body even further this may reduce the amount of hiv in the reserviors allowing people living with hiv to stop conventional treatment without the virus reemerging bringing us one step closer to a cure
